Taking Control of Your Health

Updated: Mar 13, 2020

There’s a lot going on with Coronavirus, and nobody really knows what’s happening but we’re pretty sure it’s not good.

So, as rational adults, what can we do? Wash our hands, stop touching our faces, carry hand sani religiously, sneeze into elbows, don't shake hands, cook from home, work from home (if possible), etc. These are all smart practices to staving off this ominous plague.

All this said, as Americans, do you know what we’ve statistically got a better chance of dying from? Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the US, followed by cancer. According to the CDC, 7 out of 10 of the leading causes of death are chronic diseases. According to the World Health Organization, physical activity can significantly reduce risk factors for these chronic diseases, and yet so few of us actually make time to get the minimum 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Moreover, moderate physical exercise is known to boost immunity. Exercising for the sake of exercising often only works for a small percentage of the population. It helps to have a goal, or something to work towards. Maybe you want to look great at your high school reunion, or maybe you want to have more energy to play with your kids/grandkids. Or maybe you want to conquer a challenging trek (once the travel bans are lifted).

It’s easier said than done to redirect old habits, but if you make it a priority, it will happen. If you are interested in getting in shape (outside of a gym) shoot me a message/give me a call for a complimentary consultation.
